Overview

This is an fun, adventurous way to and learn photography. We will share with you the photographers mindset and guide you with methods professionals use to compose their photos. 

We believe observation and experimentation is the key to creative photography. Explore The Rocks with one of our  professional photo guides who will share their observations and teach you how to experiment with the built-in features of your phone camera. We will teach you how to observe light and use it to create visually appealing photographs. You will extend your photographic skills and discover the historic precinct of The Rocks in a social way. 

This Photowalk is limited to a small group of all levels. You will be in a supportive and encouraging environment allowing everyone the opportunity to ask questions and receive one on one coaching as they need it. Have fun as we explore secret pathways, staircases and corridors in the rocks. We layer the adventure with learning photography. 

Creative photography learning outcomes:

  • Tips to improve basic phone handling, quick access features and short cuts for photographers
  • Fundamentals features of the phone camera (focus, exposure, composition aids)
  • Composition for phone photographers, including leading lines, use of scale and juxtaposition. 
  • Light and how to use it to create mood  
  • Colour and how to think about using color to make an impact
  • Macro photography

  • introduction to phone accessories and phone apps for photographers

And most importantly...

  • Tips to mprove your observation for creative photography

  • How to experiment with your photos to develop a style to your photography

By the end of the walk you will feel inspired by your new skills in photography and more importantly you will be confident on how to use your phone for creative photography.  You will have a better understanding of how the phone camera works, how to compose better pictures, and had fun learning.

Meeting Point: Glass doors of the MCA (harbour side entrance) 

Meeting Time: 9am

This is an adventurous photowalk so wear appropriate shoes and clothing according to the weather. The session will go ahead in most weather conditions as each weather condition provides a unique opportunity for inspiring photography. If the weather is too severe to run we will notify you and arrange another opportunity for the Photowalk.
