This is a Creative Photo Workshop

Overview

Get the skills to direct with confidence, understand how to get a flattering photo and compose your shot with the correct rules. Knowing how to get the shot with the right mood, the right look, and the right expression isn't lucky, it's a learned skill. Our photographers are professional portrait photographers and love sharing their methods. In this workshop, you will work with Natalie Foti, a professional dancer. We move between locations, so no workshop is ever the same. Accessing interesting locations is one of the enjoyable and memorable aspects of this workshop. You will learn how to work with people and talent. You will understand the importance of timing in your photos and you will also understand how to build mood in your projects.

Meeting point: Circular Quay F3 Wharf.

Meeting time: 6.50am (Ferry departs at 7.07am arrives just after sunrise at 7.28am) - Get your coffee and sandwich to eat on the way.

Depart location: 10.43am arrive Circular Quay 11.04am

Model/Dancer: Natalie Foti. A contemporary professional dancer from Sydney. Natalie teaches at Brent Street Academy

Suitable for beginners to professionals. If you are an absolute beginner we recommend you have an understanding of the Fundamental Workshops Camera Basics and Manual Photography. You will get more from this Creative Workshop if you can focus fully on the portrait workshop.

What to bring:

  • your camera kit of course with full batteries and memory cards with space to shoot to.
  • your choice of lens (Wide, Telephoto and even Macro are great for experimenting with)
  • A tripod is an option - good for experimenting with effects.
  • A flash is also an option. We will use it if you bring it.
  • Filters (definitely a circular polarizer and an ND filter if you have one)
  • Water (there's water available there as well)
  • Food (snacks like fruit and nuts etc)
  • Appropriate clothing (could be chill or windy)
Things to know

We will be on foot and walking on easy terrain. There may be stairs and short hills (smooth surface) You won't need to be an elite athlete to participate but we do recommend to travel as light as you can. (If you have a heavy tripod, for instance, leave it at home)
